DESCRIPTION :

The Sigma Mixer is universal mixing and kneading machine consists of two counter-rotating blades in a rectangular trough curved at bottom to form two longitudinal half cylinders and a saddle section. The blades are driven by gearing at either or both ends. The mixing action is a combination of bulk movement, smearing, stretching, folding, dividing and recombining as the material is pulled and squeezed against blades, saddle and sidewalls. The blades are pitched to achieve end-to-end circulation. Rotation is usually such that material is drawn down over the saddle. The sigma mixer blades are tangential and run at different speeds, with the advantages of faster mixing from constant change of relative position.The blade design most widely used is the sigma blade. The sigma blade mixer is capable of starting and operating with either liquids or solids or a combination of both. The sigma blade has good mixing action, readily discharges materials that do not stick to the blades, and is relatively easy to clean when sticky material are being processed.The drive is given through an electric motor coupled to a reduction gearbox. The whole assembly is fitted on rigid MS structure. The tilting mechanism is provided for discharge of product.

Sigma Mixer Operation

Sigma mixer, the tangential action of mixing and kneading is thoroughly obtained by ‘Z’ (SIGMA) shaped kneading blades, which rotates very accurately at different speed towards each other causing product to be transferred from blade to blade. Discharge of the mixed product is achieved by tilting the container or through the valves at the bottom or by means of an extrusion screw below the container if provided

Description

Sigma Mixer Machine or Sigma Kneader is unique mixer machine perform homogeneous kneading operation for heavier viscosity materials. Double Z blades design is the exclusive feature of machine that rotate in opposite directions. Sigma Blade Mixer is advanced mixer uses to achieve uniform kneading with shear force. Sigma Mixers considered must have for bunch of operations in which mixing, kneading and grinding to name a few. It is uses for mixing wide array of products including adhesives, pharmaceutical products, polyester compounds, food products, soap, detergent, chemicals, dyes, pigments, pigments, putty, fiber glass and confectionary items to name a few.

Consists of a double U shape bowl welded together. There are two Z type sigma blades that rotate in opposite directions to each other. In order to obtain utmost kneading and mixing efficiency, clearance between the walls and the containers are kept as less as possible. Mixer trough and blades are made of mild steel, stainless steel of CF8 or CF8M as per individual requirements. Z blade mixer scores 10 on 10 in terms of safety as equipped with safety guards and grills.

Working Principle of Sigma Mixer Machine

Tangential action of mixing is thoroughly obtained by two ‘Z’ shaped kneading blades, which rotates in opposite direction to each other in order to transfer material one blade to another resulting which homogenous mixing operation performs.

Mixing action is combination of movement, elongating, folding, dividing, and recombining of the dough. Shearing & tearing action of material through blades and the shell causes size reduction of the solid dough. Once sterilizing the batch has elapsed, the heating circuit shuts of the pneumatics damper (exhaust) opens and cooling operation commences.

In the tangential design, the blades rotate in the trough meeting tangentially. The front blade generally rotates faster than the rear blade usually in the ratio of 3:2. Tangential blades are generally used for material of higher viscosities such as adhesives, rubber compounds, flush colors, dyes, and pigments.

In the overlapping design, the blades overlap above the saddle of the container. Due to the overlapping action it is necessary that the relative position of the two blades is unchanged, and as a result, both the blades rotate at the same speed. Materials that flow freely or creep down into the blades are mixed using the overlapping blade action. This design offers a faster interchange of material from one blade compartment of the mixer to the other. Overlapping blade action is used for materials of lighter viscosities such as carbon pastes, clay coating, creams, and ointments. The overlapping blade produces a lower kneading and shearing compared to the tangential blade action.
